Coreopsis palmata

Prairie Coreopsis, Stiff Coreopsis

  • Category: Natives
  • Height: 24-36 inches
  • Spread: 24 inches

Invite this cool yellow guest to dance above your mid-summer prairie patch. Its erect habit and tidy foliage bring orderliness among flopsy neighbors. It looks best in clumps, and it will spread from rhizomes to form a nice patch, which is great if you are trying to stabilize a slope, but if it gets carried away, it is easy to yank up any stragglers. A tough customer for dry soils and drought years; deer don't like it, bees and moths do.
