A favorite winter squash among our staff, beloved for its earliness, sweet flavor, tender texture and the bright scarlet color that makes it a breeze to find in the squash patch!  You will never miss a lunker hiding under a leaf again!  You can bake it, you can mash it, you can make pies...winner of the Fedco Seeds Pie-Palooza Batttle of the Squashes Bake-Off a couple years ago. It's classified as a Kabocha squash, so think flattened Buttercup without the turban. The vines are relatively short and the fruits weigh in at about 5 lb with a small seed cavity. It's so pretty you might be tempted to add it to your autumnal display instead of eating it.
