Emerging foliage is red-purple and glossy; turns olive green as they mature. Light lavender flowers with spotted lower bracts. Leaves will take on a more red color in the fall which adds a new color to each season! Grows in clumps with ornamental seed heads will show in early spring though late fall. Attractive to butterflies, bumblebees and small native bees. Deters deer and rabbits due to aromatic foliage. Tolerant to black walnut trees; heat and drought once established.
