There's a Russian heirloom black tomato called Japanese Black Trifele, noted for the pear shape of the 5 oz. fruits, the rich tangy-sweet flavor and the brick red-brown coloring. Burpee created a new hybrid with those genetics, producing more uniform plants with slightly larger 6-8 oz. fruit with the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Decently early as well.
