Saffron!!  Did you think you could grow it here? We are selling them with green foliage in the spring. They will go dormant over the summer and then bloom in the fall for harvest. Collect the stigmas out of the gorgeous blue blooms and you have saffron! Plants thrive in full sun or partially shaded areas. They will also be beautiful in containers. Crocus sativus. Zone 6 - there are multiple ways to overwinter these bulbs if you choose to; either dig them up and store in the cellar or grow in containers to be brought in for the winter.
