Echinacea angustifolia
Narrow-Leaved coneflower
Prized for its medicinal qualities, this tidy coneflower also fits neatly into an urban prairie planting. With flowers just a bit paler and droopier than "classic" Purple Coneflower, it's the straplike, textured leaves that set this one apart. Deer do not approve of the rough foliage texture, but certain butterflies depend on it. We grow five different native coneflowers, and you do probably need them all. A reminder that it's easier for pollinators to locate the plants they are seeking if you plant in clumps rather than a hodgepodge of single plants.
