Desmodium Canadense
Showy Tick-Trefoil
Popular with hummingbirds and butterflies, and a host plant for caterpillars of the Eastern Tailed Blue, Silver Spotted Skipper and Hoary Edge butterfly. Showy pink flowers bloom for about three weeks in mid-summer. Roots fix nitrogen and it is fine near the water's edge, making it a great replacement for invasive Purple Loosestrife.
