Welcome to our 2025 Season
Thank you for your continued support over the past 29 years! It's hard to believe that nearly three decades have passed since we embarked on this journey to expand the plant vocabulary of upper Midwestern gardeners. When we began, we made a bold statement: no Spikes, Geraniums, or Petunias! Instead, we dedicated ourselves to growing the kinds of plants that had disappeared from our Grandmothers' gardens—back-of-the-border annuals, unique vines, and the latest in shade perennials. The phrase ”Never say never”, has been proven once again by our list for next spring that includes 54 Petunias, 4 Cordylines and 21 Geraniums - Ha! Our vision remains strong, as we adapt to the evolutions in the plant industry and market place.
As we reflect on our history, we fondly recall beloved plants like Glaucium flavum and Lilium formosanum. While we may not be able to bring back all of these old favorites, we still invest a great deal of time carefully selecting plants that excite us—and we hope they'll inspire you too! In 2025, we are thrilled to offer 165 new varieties, each carefully chosen to spark joy in your customers' gardens. Look for the breeding triumphs reflected in Helianthus Sunfinity Double Yellow or Lettuce Spinach. We’re proud of our efforts to maintain stock of plants that have disappeared from the trade like Mirabilis Limelight and Euphorbia cotinifolia.
We consider ourselves part of the eco-optimism movement. Together with you, our customers, we know that individual gardeners can make a positive impact on the environment through the choices they make. By offering a wide selection of native plants, lawn replacements, and a comprehensive collection of edibles, we empower ‘rambunctious gardeners*’ to play an important role in supporting local wildlife. According to the National Gardening Survey, the number of people planting native species has almost doubled in the last five years, with a 10% increase in those planting for bees, butterflies, and birds. Even the Chelsea Garden Show embraced this trend, with designs incorporating dead trees to promote wildlife habitats.
Finally, we're excited to welcome three new employees to the RCG team—Emily, Rebecca, and Lindsey—all passionate plant enthusiasts who bring fresh energy and expertise to our mission.
We look forward to another year of growing and thriving together!
Suzanne, for all the Rush Creek Growers
