Hailing from southeast Africa, this is a staff favorite because of its vivid licorice flavor.  A pesto from this basil is 'to die for'.  It flowers later in the summer so you have more time to harvest the fragrant and flavorful leaves.  It is resistant to disease including downy mildew.  It is beautiful with ruffled light green leaves that are flecked with purple.  Annual  Ocimum basilicum 'Mrihani'
