Rodger's Shield

This variety has long pointed pinnate leaves and astilbe-like spires of deep pink blossoms in mid summer. Although the flowers are attractive, these are grown primarily as an architectural accent to the shade garden as their large leaves and plant size make quite a statement. Fall foliage is an attractive red.
