Fuzzy purple flower spikes call out to bees and butterflies in late summer.  This beauty is a nativar with flowers that open from the top down.  Loves evenly moist conditions but tolerates other conditions, which makes it a great rain garden plant.  Wonderful in fresh or dried bouquets, too.
