Ratibida pinnata
Grey Headed Coneflower
Pinnate, toothed, bluish foliage. Bright golden rays twist around a darker disk that elongates to become a prominent come through late summer. Bees nest in previous year's stems. Drought resistant and good for naturalized plantings. Native to dry prairies and savannahs and times out perfectly with Verbena stricta every summer for classic purple and gold duet. Another common name is Weary Susan.
